Our mission
The acronym Opération Urgences Liban - O.U.L. - is reminiscent of the waves we call “swell”, caused by a wind that can blow very far, reaching the point where the waves cause damage.
It's an image of what Lebanon has been going through for too many years.
Opération Urgences Liban (OUL), launched in August after the explosion in the port, initially helped to rebuild the apartments destroyed. On site, we quickly realized the depth of the economic, health and social crisis.
Family sponsorship became a vital emergency. We provide moral and financial support to families in great difficulty.
The war only made the situation worse. For many, enough is enough!
We can't just sit back and watch : we have to ACT !
At the beginning of 2025, 400 families benefit from this monthly assistance.
Who are we ?
Opération Urgences Liban is an initiative of the Fraternité Missionnaire Jean-Paul II, a public association of the faithful recognized by the Bishop of Fréjus-Toulon.
This initiative is directly supported by the Association COMPASSIO, a non-profit organization registered with the Draguignan sub-prefecture. Its objective is to organize, within the framework of international humanitarian cooperation, solidarity and charitable actions in France and abroad, for the benefit of vulnerable populations in distress and extreme precariousness, while promoting respect and human dignity. Dear friends, as we are about to take off from Beirut to return to Fréjus, I would like to reiterate our IMMENSE gratitude for your commitment to our brothers and sisters in Lebanon, whose situation is far from improving, with very few exceptions.
These 10 days of visits and encounters in the Land of the Cedars have confirmed to us the immense benefits of this effort we’ve undertaken TOGETHER on behalf of those who are “sinking” due to a lack of support. OUL’s monthly aid—first and foremost the visit, but also the small financial assistance—is like a breath of fresh air, restoring their courage and hope. So THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU AGAIN !
